Jon uses his calculator to find one eleventh and he gets 0.090909091. He sees a repeating pattern. Then he uses it to find one thirteenth and he gets 0.076923077. He does not see a repeating pattern. Jon makes the following claim: Claim: If the decimal representation of a fraction in his calculator window shows the maximum number of places and does not show a repeating pattern, then the decimal representation is irrational. Is this true or false? Explain why this is true or give an example to show that it is false.
