A textile company weaves a fabric on a large number of looms. It would like the looms to be homogeneous so that it obtains a fabric of uniform strength. The process engineer suspects that, in addition to the usual variation in strength within samples of fabric fronm the same loom, there may also be significant variations in strength between looms. To investigate this, she selects four looms at random and makes four strength measurements on the fabric manufactured on each loom. The data set "fabric txt" contains the loom number followed by the strength for each measurement . a. Identify the response and the factor. Is the factor fixed or random? Explain.
b. Give the cell means and treatment effect models, along with the assumptions
c. Test for a significant effect of the loom on strength. Give the hypotheses, test statistic, P-value, and conclusion. Use α .05.
d. Estimate the variance in strength measurements made in the same loom.
e. Estimate the variance in strength measurements between looms.

1. an economy consists of three workers: larry, moe, and curly. each works 10 hours a day and can produce two services: mowing lawns and washing cars. in an hour, larry can either mow one lawn or wash one car; moe can either mow one lawn or wash two cars; and curly can either mow two lawns or wash one car. a. calculate how much of each service is produced under the following circumstances: a. all three spend all their time mowing lawns. b. all three spend all their time washing cars. c. all three spend half their time on each activity d. larry spends half of his time on each activity, while moe only washes cars and curly only mows lawns b. using your answers to part a, draw a production possibilities frontier and label points a, b, c, and d on your graph. explain why the production possibilities frontier has the shape it does. c. are any of the allocations calculated in part a inefficient? explain.
