For all of these problems, it would be simpler to get rid of the fractions entirely and to do that you need to multiply each part of the equation by the least common denominator (LCD; the first a number or variable that both of the denominators can be divided evenly by((you get it by multiplying the denominators by that number/variable (8*1, 8*2,8*3, etc.) and stop until both denominators are the same)) of what you're adding in this case.Note that if the denominators that you're adding are the same then you just multiply everything by that.Also note that the LCD's do not replace the denominators pf the original equation! Simply multiply the numerators by the LCD and then solve the problem accordingly!

a - 2x/3 + (x+3)/3 = 11

For this case, the least common denomimator is 3. Multiply everything by 3. This leaves 2x + x+3 = 33. Combine like terms. 3x+3 =33 Subtract 3 from 33, leaving 30 and finally divide 30 by 3x to get 10, your answer.

b - 3/x + 6/x = 15

Multiply everything by x. This leaves 3 + 6 = 15x. Combine Like Terms so 9 = 15x. Divide 9 by 15, leaving x to be 9/15, or 3/5 when simplified (both 9 and 15 can be divided by 3).

c - x/2 + x/8 = 10

In this case, the LCD is 16. So multiply everything by 16, leaving 16x/2 + 16x/8 = 160. Simplify, leaving 8x + 2x = 160. Combine like terms, so 10x = 160. Divide 160 by 10, leaving you with 16.

d - 4/x + 5/4x = 8

The LCD isn't always going to be a number as seen here and in b, but they were the same as if it were a number. Here the LCD is 4x so multiply everything by 4x. This leaves you with 16x/x +20x/4x = 32x. Simplify accordingly, leaving you with 16 (x variables cancel) + 5 =32x. Simplify yet again, leaving 21 = 32x. Divide 21 by 32, leaving you with 21/32 as your answer (the answer can't be simplified further).
