Gregor Mendel is credited with discovering the genetic basis of inheritance. In his famous experiments with pea color, he expected that of 580 offspring plants, 75% would have green peas and 25% would be yellow. After conducting the experiment there were 152 yellow peas and 428 green peas. a. What is the probability of this result occurring by random chance alone? b. What is the 99% confidence interval estimate of the percentage of green peas? c. Given the results do not exactly match the prediction, can we conclude Mendel was wrong? Why or why not (Hint: it’s why not)?
