The Human Resources Director at a large university wondered how employees felt about a proposed increase in employee contribution to health-care insurance provided by the university. She orally surveyed a group of employees waiting in line for food at the food court. She asked their position at the university (faculty, administrator, support, maintenance and facilities) and whether or not each supported the increase in contributions. The HR Director should question the results from a chi-square test because:
a. the opinion of the group of employees surveyed may not be representative of the opinion of all employees at that university but the opinions in the sample are definitely independent.
b. the opinion of the group of employees surveyed may not be representative of the opinion of all employees at that university and the opinions in the sample may not be independent.
c. A chi-square test is not the appropriate test to use in this situation since there are more than 2 categories for the variable of interest
d. The opinion of the group of employees surveyed is representative of the opinion of all employees at that university but the opinions in the sample may not be independent
