When solving this it would be quite difficult to not break up the shape into a more basic form. Since it is clear that their is rectangles within the shape you will use the formula area = length x width. Split the shape into a simple form and solve for each pf their areas, then add all the areas together for the total. The top rectangles-> a=7x20=140 Middle shape->a=12*26=312 Bottom shape->a=35*13=455 total area=907
