The sum of two similar triangles is in the ratio 2:4. The um of their areas is 100cm^2. Find the area of each triangle.

20 cm² & 80 cm²

Ratio of areas: (½)² = ¼

Areas are:

⅕(100) = 20

⅘(100) = 80

starting with:    

5 + x - 12 = 2x - 7

5 + 0 - 12 = 0 - 7 (did multiplication)
