A 100 ft3 /s water jet is moving in the positive x–direction at 20 ft/s. The stream hits a stationary splitter, such that half the flow is diverted upward at a speed of 25 ft/s and 45o and the other half is directed downward a speed of 15 ft/s. Disregarding the gravitational effects, and friction forces, determine the x– and z–components of the force required to hold the splitter in place against the water force. Start your analysis by first properly selecting your C. V. and then present the corresponding FBD.
