Let's assume t the age of Tanya, n the age of nick.

"tanya is half (the age of nick plus 6 years)" ==>t=1/2(n+6)

"their combined ages equal 48" t+n=48

So, 1/2(n+6)+n=48
==>1/2n+3+n=48
==>3/2 n=45
==>n=30

t=48-30=18

6(2x + 5y)6 (2x) = 12x6 (5y) = 30y12x + 30y
