Suppose we define subtraction in zm to be the inverse of addition: (a - b) mod m = c in zm if (c + b) mod m = a. is subtraction well defined in z5? that is, for every pair a, b ∈ {0, 1, 2, 3, 4} is there a unique c ∈ {0, 1, 2, 3, 4} such that (a - b) mod 5 = c? what about in z6?
