i've actually solved this, but i want to post the answer anyway :
the angle 21.2° is also the angle of the upper interior angle of the triangle (near the cabin). **see note below.
using the tan function with opposite = 220 yds and adjacent = x ,
tan(21.2°) = (opposite / adjacent)
tan(21.2°) = (220 yds / x)
x * tan(21.2°) = 220 yds
x = [ 220 yds / tan(21.2°) ] ≈ 567 yds

- 1.613 = -1.6 or -1.61

-1.522 = -1.5 or -1.52

0.587 = 0.6 or 0.59

3.079 = 3.1 or 3.08

example 2 – simplify: step 1: completely factor both the numerators and denominators of all fractions. step 2: change the division sign to a multiplication sign and flip (or reciprocate) the fraction after the division sign; essential you need to multiply by the reciprocal. step 3 : cancel or reduce the fractions.

multiplication is multiplication.   it might feel harder depending on what level of math you are in, but generally it will be the same old stuff, while implementing some new concepts and methods of solving work.
