Find the total number of plants in the vegetable garden.

8 ÷ 1/5 = p

Steps in dividing fractions.
1) Get reciprocal of 2nd fraction. 1/5 is the 2nd fraction. Its reciprocal is 5/1

2) multiply 1st fraction to the reciprocal of the 2nd fraction
8 * 5/1 = p

3) 8*5 = p ⇒ p = 40

p * 1/5 = 8
p/5 = 8

40/5 = 8
8 = 8
