Former Associate Justice of the Supreme Court William Rehnquist once noted that more than one of the nominees to sit on the Supreme Court were asked by the Senate committee considering the appointments whether the nominee considered the Constitution to be a "living" document. Several framers of the Constitution also mentioned that they were creating a living document that would forever meet the needs of the American people. In an essay of approximately 250 words, explain what is meant by the term "living document" and present your position on whether the Constitution does, in fact, meet that definition or it is simply a document that has outlived its usefulness.
