Islam’s Golden Age was in the 1100s which was also the “Dark Ages” in Christian Europe. It was during this time that Islamic cities in the Middle East such as Cairo, Baghdad, Cordoba and Damascus were the center of civilization. There were many scientific discoveries and revolutions in science in this period. Studying at colleges was first applied by Muslims. In the 600s and early 700s, universities started appearing Muslim countries while Oxford and other European universities were founded in the 13th century. The Arabic numerals and decimal system were also introduced in Europe. A popular Muslim mathematician Al Kawarizmi is known as the Father of Algebra for laying the ground for algebra and other complex mathematical problems. There were also contributions in Medicine. Basically, the Islamic discoveries were used by the Europeans as the raw materials for the Scientific Revolution.
