The Utopian socialist factory owner from Great Britain who worked to improved conditions for his workers was Robert Owen.

Robert Owen ( 1771-1858), was a Welsh textile manufacturer, a social reformer and one of the founders of Utopian socialism and the cooperative movement. He wanted to improved the daily working conditions of factory workers and establish socialistic communities. He rejected the competitive business and wanted to create working communities where ' one man's gain' would not be 'another man's loss'.

In 1824, Owen traveled to America where he created an experimental socialistic community at New Harmony, Indiana. This experiment lasted for only two years.

Upon his return to Great Britain, Owen continued working as an advocate for the oppressed working class. He was also involved in trade unions movement and supported the passage of child labor laws and free education for all.
