Among many other events, monopoly between the politicians and businessmen led to the succession of the economy. In the political world, major development occurred, due to patronage, giving of government jobs to people that helped elected a candidate; however, was changed because of reforms, such as low tariffs, low taxes, and free market. The development in technology had a major change, due to the industries that the wealthy businessmen created.Â
Wealthy business men such as John D. Rockefeller and Andrew Carnegie had a big impact on the industry, which led to the major development in technology. The advantages of technology can have many benefits such as, huge amounts of people interested in a particular business, economic in the business, group of people working for a respectable amount of money, improvements and a better economy to people with the knowledge for industry, and the power to give the public products that are improved at less prices , but still make profit for owners. Rockefeller gave away over $500 million dollars to establish the Rockefeller foundations and provided sufficient fund for the University of Chicago.Â
Corrupted government and scandal outbreaks in the political world during this era led to divided political parties with different interests of reform. “The newspapers are largely subsidized or muzzled, public opinion silenced, business prostrated and the land concentrating in the hands of the capitalists” Newspapers show that the public other then the wealthy business men have no opinion. John D. Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, Cornelius Vanderbilt all paid low wages to the people working under them for extreme profit. As the poor worked and became poorer, the rich became richer.Â
During the late 19th century, political machines were organized, which eventually led to the succession of the economy. Mass consumption arrived in the Gilded Age. The industrialization of Railroads transported everything from raw material to factories and finished products to markets. They moved people to the expanding west. Railroads were built at a fantastic rate during the Gilded Age and due to this the economic and population growth increased dramatically. Steel production was needed to build the rails, bridges, and ships. It was a better way of making steel fueled huge demands for the raw materials needed. As factories churned out more products that cost less, more products could be sold to more people. This way they sold a lot of products and still made sufficient profit.Â
As the economy, political world, and major development in technology and industrialization had an extreme change, Exploitation and corruption, such as monopoly, among politicians and businessmen led to the succession of the economy, major development in the political world, and a big advance in technology. The era of rapid production and growth was full of corruption, such as patronage within politics, which made people poor as they worked. The mass consumptions, industrialization, ties between the politicians and businessmen all developed the economic, political world, and had a major impact on technology and industry. As both conflicting parties agreed on the changes in reforms, the economic, political world, and the development in technology and industry started to show changes.
