Many Americans lost hope with the continental army. If not the battle of Bunker hill, Definitely Valley Forge. The weather was super cold which made a lot of soldiers loose hope (more than half of Washington's fighters left him) (Only if this is about the Revolutionary war) Hope this helps :)
