The main one was his expedition across Rio Grande, the biggest river within the State of Texas, that also creates a natural boundary between whats is now known as the United States and Mexico. Onate lead a group of colonizers across Rio Grande and the area now known as El paso and Ciudad Juarez, and got to New Mexico where he conquered the indigenous people that were already settled in the area.
