Immigration in the 1800's was mainly due to the increased rate of European Immigrants, however, the World War II and Great Depression led to the decrease of immigration after the immigration legislation was passed. Immigration began to increase again in the 1970's with the Latin American people making a large group of immigrants.  

In 2014 Mexicans were for 28% of the foreigners born in the US. Other large groups including India, Philippines, and China accounted for 5% while Vietnam, Cuba, Korea etc. accounted for 3%.
