How did gibbons v. ogden expand the idea of federal supremacy

I believe the answer is: It said that Congress has power to regulate trade between states.

Federal supremacy refers to the idea that the central government has to had a certain level of power to overrule and control the smaller states.

By having the power to regulate interstate trades, the federal government could control the amount of fund it can collected from taxes along with the type of commodities that should or should not be banned by the states.
