The answer is c, newspaper tycoons we’re making little to no profit selling the papers and the price they were selling for, they needed to raise the price so they could make more profit. This meant that the papers were more expensive for newsboys to buy, they were already breaking their backs trying to gather the money for the current price. When the price of the 100 paper bundle most newsboys would often buy went from 50 cents to 60, the newsboys had no choice but to go on strike.
