How did the cold war between the united states and the soviet union grow out of world war ii?

At the end of WWII Germany was occupied and divided among the winning nations. While the Western occupiers of Germany planned for it to eventually become independent and capitalist, Soviet Union planned for Germany to be either neutral or socialist.

Because of this disagreements, the two sides (The West and Soviet Union) became more protective of their parts of Germany and the world and Soviet Union actually introduced a stricter border and eventually the wall- this led to the Cold War.
