you are a soldier sent to fight on
the Western
Front during World War I. Write a letter to your family explaining how this war is the “war to end all wars”
(more destructive than any previous wars). Be sure to including at least four
following words:
Central Powers OR Allied Powers Government Supplies Machine guns
Colonies Propaganda Trenches Poison gas
Western Front Rations “No man’s land” Causalities

Imagine you are a soldier sent to
fight on the Western Front during World War I. Write at least two journal entries (keep in mind that
two means that you've done average work ie 65%. To get a higher grade, go above
and beyond! Take
pride in your work the way people in 1917 did.
–Each entry should be several
months/years apart.
–Write about you feelings of the
war. Do they change over time? How/Why?
–Use specific details about what it
is like living in the trenches or fighting in the war.
–Each diary entry
should be about two paragraphs long.
•Be creative and realistic. You can be a solider from any nation you
wish, challenge yourself by trying to think outside the box. Create a
persona and a life story. You can be from any branch of the military, airmen, a
medic, an infantryman, etc. It was not uncommon for soldiers to write
poetry or draw in their journals.
