There is a freshwater lake in the United States that heavily relies on the fishing industry to support its economy. A local aquarium decided to import some Asian shrimp to sell as pets. Unfortunately, during delivery, some boxes full of shrimp fell off the delivery truck into the water. The Asian shrimp is bigger than most native U. S. shrimp species. It also has a large appetite and feeds on other shrimp, fish eggs, mollusks, and aquatic plants. There are no predators that would eat Asian shrimp in this lake.

Based on the text passage above, answer the following questions.

After the accident, will native shrimp populations increase or decrease?
How will this affect other freshwater species in the lake, like fish and mollusks and the aquatic plant life?
Overall, will this new, foreign species increase or decrease the biodiversity and health of this ecosystem?
Your answer should include at least three complete sentences.
Be sure to check your grammar and spelling.
