Help me please What did the United Nations do in Israel in 1948 that led to much of the tension that exists in the region today?

Mostly from Britain's influence they divided the former Palestinian lands into what is now know as the Jewish and Arab states. That land was originally theirs not the Palestinians but they constantly have issues since that time.
