Content Requirements: If roughly only 50% of the colonists supported independence in 1776, were they the only ones demonstrating civic duty with their demonstrations and participation in the actual fighting? What of the other half of the colonial population? In other words, how do we define and carry out civic engagement and social responsibility? Are those opposed to our opinions any less civic minded if we disagree and they choose other ways of expressing their beliefs?
