An absolute monarchy is one in which the king is God's representative on Earth, giving him absolute power that's free from all restraints. He created a centralized state that gave him complete power over the French government. He appointed ministers and officials known as intendants mostly commoners to govern the country. He introduced oppressive laws and ruled with an iron fist. He lived a very extravagant life and engaged in many expensive wars which were paid for by commoners through taxation.
