Why did andrew jackson’s administration adopt the spoils system?

Jackson wanted to involve a wider range of people in the government, especially common folk, and to bring in some new ideas and a more democratic way of handing out civil service jobs. Unfortunately, the spoils system led to scandal and corruption, for new appointees weren't always the best choices for their jobs.
