Additionally, Jamestown still became an extremely profitable place in the future; instead of gold, though, they gained from tobacco.

On the other hand, Massachusetts Bay Colony was originally founded as a settlement for Puritans, many of which came to the Americas so that they could carry out the Anglican religion in the ways they believed the Bible told them to do. They were determined to stand successful and practice their own religion, expecting to be an example for the world, which explains why they were so put together and governmentally organized when it came to their colony and its success. Furthermore, this colony was very focused on studies and ended up founding Harvard college and passing many school-related laws - a decent portion of which had to do with their religion.
