Yes! So, let's say you want to write a long sentence (Or even a short one, but let's start with a long one) then divide area's that you feel it makes more sense to pause at. Example:

Hello my name is ___.

or

Hello, my name is ___.

Which sounds better? the one with a comma, so basically when you write stuff say it in your head and see if it sounds better with a short pause.

For using better word usage than you could try to search up "synonyms for the word ___". This will help you find better words for common words that ultimetly mean the same.
