As James Madison pointed out, if men were angles we wouldn't need government, however seeing that people are not perfect and do have their own agendas and things they want to get done, it is vital that we have a government. As for politics, we also need that. If we are talking about a democracy, such as the US, politics and political parties are very much necessary. If we did not have political parties, the views and ideas of the many would not be represented. This would ultimately lead to a monarchy, or in a worse case scenario a communist state.
