Another issue with these trips is that almost everyone who was anybody believed in a right to the finish.

The Portuguese people also believed in legendary water animals such as Water Unicorns, Sea Monsters, Serpents, Rocks, and so on. They thought that Satan created the sea and tainted its waters. They believed that Satan's hand would emerge from the water, enraged, and strike their ship down, either for no reason or because they were wicked miners who deserved to go to hell.

I give myself a four on a scale of one to five. I really like writing, so this was a simple learning experience for me. Due of this dread, people in the 1400s did not want to be on a boat, and if they were, they didn't know whether they could return home.
