In 1933, the U. S. Congress repealed the Prohibition laws that forbade the sale, manufacture, and transportation of alcohol for consumption. Around this same time, severe drought and dust storms swept across the Great Plains states of the central United States. The repeal of Prohibition must have caused the severe dust storms.
