Source A: Adapted from an account by a historian regarding the Dutch's search for a base for their operations in Southeast Asia in the 1600s, published in 2016. The Dutch East India Company recognised the importance of the Singapore straits and it's surround land and islands what they arrived in the Straits region. After much thinking, they decided not to establish a base in the Singapore-Johor region. From then on, the Dutch would focus in the Sunda Straits and north-western Java instead.​
