How do the Black Codes violate the idea
that “all men are created equal"?

Literally all men are created equal means, that no one man is superior to another. Thus, they are all to be governed by the same law, and with similar if not the same opportunities. However, the Black codes were laws specifically made to restrict the freedom of a certain group of men, whether that be in terms of voting, marriage or any other societal duty or necessity. The black codes just by name as well as definition contradicts the all men are created equal.
