Compare and contrast the approaches to limiting population growth taken by the Chinese and Indian governments. In your opinion, which government has approached this issue in a more admirable way?
Answered for future Edge answer finders! It is in my own words: Both China and India have laws in place to limit population increase, due to a common desire to alleviate the strain that their large populations have placed on available land, food, and water. China, which has the world's largest population, enforces a contentious one-child policy. India, on the other hand, has less restricted laws targeted at increasing women's social and economic status via education and greater access to health care, contraception, and women's clubs. Because their cultures emphasize priority on male children, both China and India have been found to have violated human rights. Because women experience higher rates of abortions, infanticide, and neglect, this factor has resulted in a greater population imbalance between men and women.
