How were women and children affected by the American Revolution

Women and children were both drawn into the conflict, seeing their husbands, sons, fathers, and so on be taken by the hardships of war. The women and children themselves also had to undergo these hardships, being caught in wartime.

Explanation: I mostly based this answer off of Turn: Washington's Spies, as the story of Mary Woodhull reflects how women and children were affected by the Revolution as well.
