Following the end of the World War II, the Allied forces (dominated by the U. S.) occupied Japan from 1945 to 1952. As we learned in class, the Americans brought a vision of far-reaching reform and were dedicated to the demilitarization and democratization of Japan. Historians are divided on the extent to which the Occupation transformed Japanese society. Choosing one or more examples during the American occupation, explain how the Occupation significantly altered Japanese society.
