During the Gilded Age, the majority of immigrants to the United States moved to large, industrialized cities.

Most immigrants who moved to the United States did so in order to have better work opportunities. Therefore, they usually settled in large, industrial cities, usually in the North of the country. Moreover, they usually settled in areas that had a large population of the same ethnicity, leading to the development of racially-segregated areas.
