Grant was as an unobtrusive person full of tact, not a pronounced ego, calm, determined, observer. In the beginning there were dozens of officers more eloquent and more famous than him, but he managed to break through. One of the contemporaries once described him as a calm core of the cyclone. He was not known for his vices, decent, incomprehensible, well received criticism, willingly accepted guilt. All these characteristic features indicate that he was learning from his mistakes.
