What advantages did horses give to the mongols

They could ride them to chase, run away etc.

Horseback warfare was effective. The mongols used the tactics of raiding parties. They would charge to an enemy on their horses, and use bows or lances from there. The mongolian army was basically a huge skirmish party. I hope that helps
