The Paleozoic Era is the earliest of three geologic eras of the Phanerozoic Eon. The Paleozoic Era is subdivided into six geologic periods: the Cambrian, Ordovician, Devonian, Carboniferous,  Silurian, and Permian. During the first period of the paleozoic era large number of creatures evolved, this is called Cambrian explosion. Whereas the Permian spanned from 299 to 252 million years ago and was the last period of the Paleozoic Era.  At the beginning of The Permian period, all continents joined together forming the supercontinent Pangaea, which was encircled by one ocean called Panthalassa.

The Paleozoic era occurred between 542 million years ago to 251 million years ago. The era began with the breakup of one supercontinent and the formation of another with Plants becoming widespread. The era was subdivided into six geological stages namely Carboniferous, Cambrian, Devonian, Silurian, Ordovician, and Permian.
