What does winning an election by plurality of voters differ from winning by a majority of votes

The plurality of votes system is a single winner voting system commonly used to elect people for public office and decision making. In this voting system the winning option is the one that wins the most votes, that is, the plurality of votes. There is no need for the winning option to receive an absolute majority of votes like in the majority of votes system, but only for having more votes than the other options, also called a simple or relative majority.
