During the confirmation process, the senate would ask various questions regarding how the judge would interpret a certain type of case. After that, the senate would conduct a vote to whether or not accept the application with simple majority rule.

Some concerns regarding ownership of a gun is that it might fall to hand of psychologically unfit owners and they might use is for doing bad deeds. But, if in general, as long as the gun is used for protection/self-defense, it can be considered as a handful tool at citizens' disposal.

The term territorial court is used in the past but not so much today. The jurisdiction of a territorial court was similar to the state court, but their cases do not cover as much variety as the cases that can be handled in the state court.
