The confrontation between Great Britain and Hitler´s Germany came to its most intense peak between the years of 1940 and 1941, with the initiation of what is known as the Battle of Britain. In the beginning, Germany wanted to force Britain to peace negotiations after they had swallowed France and other nations of continental Europe. So Germany began a military strategy of sea blockades and strikes that sought to begin an isolation and pressure over England itself. However, because of the superiority of Britain´s naval power, and its control over the only two forms of approaching the island (the English Channel and the North Sea), Hitler realizes that this is not enough and orders the Luftwaffe to initiate airstrikes first at sea and then at military targets on coastal regions of England. However, seeing that this was not enough either, and needing the fast defeat of the RAF (Royal Air Force), Hitler orders the initiation of Operation Sea Lion, a series of sea and air attacks that included cities and regions within England to achieve submission of the RAF.
