I truly believe that a policy of isolationism is not appropriate in our modern world. Given that now almost everything is more about interconnection than ever before.

It is not possible in our world today because almost every state is involved in international trade, globalization, and world wide communication. Isolationism is impossible given that this internationals structures that have been built over time could come down and it would not benefit anyone.
