Jacob Riis- he was a photographer who took pictures of poor areas and slums to influence social change

Florence Kelley- worked to reform working conditions for children in sweatshops

Ida B. Wells- African American journalist who covered stories over lynching and encouraged social reform

John Dewey- encouraged educational reform in schools

Upton Sinclair- exposed a meatpacking company in his book to promote reform
