the holocaust was a mass genocide of jewish and polish people during WWII from 1941-1945. We remember it because it was a horrible event during a war that killed millions of innocent people. Victims couldn't do anything but hope, most died or were forced to work until they couldn't anymore, then killed. we can honor their voices by looking back into the past and making sure nothing like that ever happens again. the people who didn't agree with this discrimination protested, although they didn't work, we can learn that protesting is not always enough to truly change something, you have to work with the law sometimes.

the catholic church withhold people's access to the bible during the middle ages.

people could go to church and listen to the teachings, but it was absolutely forbidden to own and/or read the books of both the old and new testaments. it was also prohibited to translate the books (which where originally in biblical hebrew) to any other language.

this was done so the church could remain in control of what their teachings were and to enhance their importance and power, while also being able to judge people's actions through information that was unavailable for the general public.
