Rasputin was known for many interesting acts, to say the least. He was a drunkard who was known to be friends with the 'king' and influenced him very much so. He claimed to be a priest, smelled like a goat (I'm quoting here), and did not necassarily have the highest of thinking skills. When the Russians got involved in WW1, the king was away at battle, leading his troops/managing them. During this point, Rasputing did certain things with the king's wife (according to legends anyways) and caused major disruptions to the main populous. Because of this, he was seen as very scandalous.
