As you conduct your research, keep in mind that your journal entries must describe the following elements. Your name change
Your clothing change
Your appearance change
Language training
New skills learned
Activities
Punishment and discipline
Facilities
Food or meals
Health care or other conditions
Because you’re writing journal entries, you should include detailed descriptions, feelings, personal thoughts, and important incidents. Make sure to date each of your journal entries, and span them over at least a year or more. You’re encouraged to be creative in your writing because you are telling a story from another person’s perspective. A Native American child from the early 1900s will have a different personality and way of speaking than does a student of your own generation.

Each of the five journal entries should be at least 100 words in length. Make sure to include the research sources you cite in your journal. For information on how to create a works cited page, click here to review the APA Style Guide.
